TP Run!

Bring Toilet Paper, Toothbrushes, Soap, Other Necessities to HBAL through June 29.

The Remodelers Council is having its fifth TP Run (Toilet Paper Run) to help the clients of the Community Mental Health Center (CMHC). These clients are on fixed incomes, and after rent and medical expenses, often are left with very little money for the basic necessities. And, with a decline in the amount of items given from the Center for People in Need, donations from the Remodelers Council of Lincoln are even more helpful than ever before.

Items that would be greatly appreciated by CMHC & its clients:
• Toilet paper
• Laundry soap
• Shampoo
• Toothpaste
• Sanitary products for women
• Bar soap for men
• Bath gel soap for women
• Cleaning supplies
• Poly-grip

Please pick up an extra roll of toilet paper or bar of soap on your next shopping trip, and drop it by the HBAL office before June 29. Thanks for helping to take care of our community!

SMI is a nationally-recognized professional service organization that provides workplace safety consulting, site audits, training, program planning and implementation. Lead: Renovation, Repair and Painting

Beginning in April 2010, the Toxic Substances Control Act will require contractors to test for lead paint in pre-1978 homes and, if detected, use Lead Safe Work Practices. This will require companies to be EPA registered and have a Certified Renovator available.

Training Providers of the 8 hr. Lead: Renovation, Repair and Painting Program
The Lead: Renovation, Repair and Painting Program is the mandatory course to become a Certified Renovator. It is eight hours (one day) with an end-of-course exam. Two of the hours are hands-on. Successful completion of this course will entitle the student to receive a certification as an EPA-recognized “Certified Renovator.” The course taught will satisfy EPA’s Renovation, Remodeling & Painting Rule-40 CFR 745.

Applying for Certification
The application and instructions for firms applying for certification to conduct lead-based paint activities is now available at www.epa.gov/lead/pubs/firmapp.pdf.

Supplies
The D-Lead® Paint Test Kit (24 tests per kit), HEPA vacs and other supplies needed to comply with the Lead Paint Rule are available for purchase at Lincoln Laminating, Inc. (402-434-6009). HBAL members receive a 25% discount on the list price.
